Gloria Moreno

Gloria “Chita” Moreno went to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 21, 2026, at the age of 84, leaving behind a family who loved her deeply and a legacy built on love, loyalty, generosity, and devotion to family.

Gloria was born in good ole Jerome, Arizona on February 24, 1942, to Robert and Jennie Corona. Her family came to Victorville in the 1940s, and she was a longtime resident of the Victor Valley. She always held fond memories of growing up in what is now considered Old Town Victorville. The Corona family home was within walking distance of the Mojave River, where Gloria and her siblings spent many happy days together.

She attended Victor Valley High School and graduated in 1959. In 1961, she married Elpidio “Ricky” Moreno. Gloria worked for NuWay Laundry in Victorville for 12 years before dedicating herself to being a homemaker and raising her children.

Gloria and Ricky eventually settled in Hesperia, where they raised their four children and made their home for 25 years. Together with their kids, they also raised animals. Their property included just about every kind of farm animal you can think of. Their home became much more than a place for their immediate family. Gloria opened her doors for countless family parties, celebrations, and gatherings, and when someone in the family was in need or simply needed a place to stay, they knew they could count on Aunt Chita. As Ricky would often put it, their home was “Grand Central Station” with family always stopping by for a visit.

As the eldest daughter and one of eight siblings, Gloria naturally became the “mother hen” of the large Corona family. She was a loving and loyal daughter to her parents and, together with her sisters, helped care for them in their later years. That same devotion extended to her brothers and sisters, her nieces and nephews, and Ricky’s family as well. To so many, she was simply “Aunt Chita”—someone whose door was always open and whose love for family never wavered.

Keeping her family close was important to Gloria. She helped organize memorable family reunions and created countless opportunities for everyone to gather, laugh, eat, and enjoy being together. She was a wonderful cook, with her tamales and menudo becoming family favorites. She also loved to dance and to shop! She had a style all her own. Those who knew her well will especially remember her love of cheetah print!

In the 1990s, Gloria and Ricky returned to Victorville, where they enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren and making new family memories. They especially loved taking their grandchildren and other family members camping at Mountain Lakes in Lytle Creek. Ricky passed away in 2005, after 44 years of marriage.

Gloria is survived by her four children: daughters Tina Moreno and Julie Bronson and her husband, Raul; sons Robert Moreno and his partner, Tina, and Richard Moreno and his wife, Joanna. She also leaves behind six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her brothers, Tito Corona and his wife, Geri, and Pastor David Corona; her sisters, Rosemary Hernandez and her husband, Orlando, and Linda Lipis and her husband, Rich; and her sisters-in-law, Nora Corona, Patsy Corona, and Mary Moreno.

Gloria was preceded in death by her husband, Elpidio “Ricky” Moreno and her brothers Robert, Arthur, and Ronnie.

To know Gloria was to know that family came first. She loved fiercely, gave generously, and remained loyal to those she loved throughout her life. Although the family has lost its “mother hen,” the family will continue to carry her love forward. Her life was a beautiful reminder that one of the greatest legacies we can leave behind is a family that knows how deeply they are loved.
