

Harry Willard Degnan, aged 98, of Hesperia, California, passed away peacefully at his home on January 10, 2025. He was born in Groton, Connecticut, on February 26, 1926, the youngest of five siblings to Harry and Lillian Degnan.
During Harry’s formative years, he lived with his family up on “The Crest” in El Cajon, California. His abilities as a mechanic began here, where he and his friends enjoyed spending their time working on cars.
Harry enlisted in the U.S. Navy in May of 1942. He served in World War II and the Korean War. He was stationed in numerous bases around the world, one of which was Newport, Rhode Island. While there he met and married his wife Marie. They were happily married for 68 years until her death in August of 2023.
Harry retired from the military with honors after 20 years of service. After his military career he continued working as the service manager at Sears Roebuck in El Cajon, California. He remained at Sears for 18 years until his retirement.
During this time Harry and Marie bought a home in Santee, California. With a growing family they began a lifetime passion for traveling. Whether in tents, motor homes or fifth wheels he loved camping anywhere he could. He loved fishing, hiking and making new friends. After raising their family they settled in a new home in the high desert city of Hesperia, California.
Harry is survived by his three children, Randy, Cheryl and Patti. Also 6 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. He has reunited with his loving wife Marie and daughter Connie in heaven.
A visitation for Harry will be held at 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Desert View located at 11478 Amargosa Rd., Victorville, CA 92392. Following the visitation there will be a committal service, with full military honors, at 2:00 pm at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Boulevard, Riverside, CA 92518.
