I remember taking “Ricky” as John and Doris called their grandson, John. We went to the Nothrup employee picnic and then went home to their home.
We were looking at picture albums with grandpa.  Ricky saw a picture of his dad, John Leslie and said “ my dad doesn’t love me does he?”
Grandpa looked at the picture and said, “ He loves you in his own way”. Then he gave his grandson a big hug. “ Grandma and I love you very much”.  That was the kind of man he was. He wanted his grandson to feel loved.
