John Christopher Peterson

After retirement, John immediately jumped into volunteering at High Desert Second Chance, and was implemental in creating the senior homebound program, where he and his wife delivered food for those without transportation or family to assist them. The program grew to 34 volunteers to serve 200 seniors.

Those who knew John will remember a man of steady integrity and quiet strength—someone whose honesty was matched by a gentle manner, and whose wisdom was offered thoughtfully rather than loudly. He carried himself with patient resolve, meeting life with resilience and a brave, enduring spirit.

John’s devotion showed in the way he lived: faithful in his commitments, loyal to those he loved, and selfless in the everyday choices that so often go unseen. His loyalty knew no bounds, being a Cleveland Browns football fan. He was generous without fanfare, compassionate in both word and deed, and kind-hearted in the ways that mattered most—listening carefully, giving freely, and treating others with sincere respect.

John was a devoted Christian who loved God, Jesus, and his family. He also attended High Desert Church at the Hesperia campus and served as an usher.

Hard-working and dependable, John approached responsibility with care and perseverance. He enjoyed hiking, golf, and searching for fall colors. Yet alongside that steadiness and sense of adventure—a willingness to face what came next with courage and an open heart. In all seasons of life, he remained deeply cherished and beloved, leaving a lasting imprint on those who had the privilege of sharing in his life.
