As I remember your entering this world 57 years ago, it is with both joy and sadness. You had a painful entry and exit. For the first two years of life you suffered until we found the specialist that could help you. It is with great sadness that the same could not be done for you at the end. I am sorry that I did not recognize the pain, but the 7 pennies spoke volumes and I am now convinced that you are without pain and sorrow. I take comfort in that, my son. You  will always be loved, remembered and honored.

Fifty six years ago was one of the happiest days of my life. My son, one and only son, was born. Today I have many happy memories of you growing up:

Your first T Ball practice when you came bursting in the door saying, “Mom, Mom , I made three hits and two friend!” I smiled and thought to myself , “That’s what it is all about”. Joyful memories are what you gave me.

You are gone but not forgotten. The love for you remains.

As we start a new year, we miss you as much as ever. As long as we are on this planet, you will not be forgotten.  I did not post on your birthday as I was in the hospital. I had to smile as I thought that 55 years to the day, I was in the hospital but on a much happier occasion! Always know that we love you, miss you terribly, and live with the hope of seeing you again, my son.

Happy Heavenly birthday Kendall. We still think of you everyday and pray that you are at peace in the arms of our Heavenly Father. 🖤

You will never, ever be forgotten. You are just as vivid in our minds and hearts as you were when you walked on this earth. You will always be loved, respected and missed.

Another Mother’s Day has passed and my thoughts go to memories of you as a little boy. In my mind’s eye I see you peddling your little tractor with your red wagon hooked on behind heading up the street to Mr Brown’s house to haul away the grass cuttings for him. He enjoyed your company and your help. In pre-school your teacher said that if there was a construction project, you were the one to lead it.  It was a Montessori school so the teachers were mainly observers and the children were led by their interests and learned to problem solve on their own. He stated that some children wanted attention so badly that they would literally bang their heads on the table to get attention, but, he said, “Kendall is  not like that. Kendall is happy to be Kendall.” That made me smile. I still smile thinking of how proud I am to be your mother.

October 18 was one of the happiest days of my life in 1968–you were born on that day.  Today the happiness comes from memories. Memories of you riding your bike and a neighbor remarking 
What a happy go lucky little guy that you  were!
I wish that your whole life could have been like that day. To say that we miss you, doesn’t begin to describe  the hole that is in our collective hearts. We are thankful for the time that we had with you and live with the hope that we will be together again. We love you and always will.


Today is the anniversary of the most painful day of my life. It was exactly a year ago that we said the final good-bye to our son, something that I would not wish to any parent. I thought that the tears would finally stop but they have not—even as I am writing this. As the casket was lowered  into the ground, I mourned the loss of your smile, your hello hug and the many talents that were buried with you. I want all to know that you will not be forgotten, that we hold tight to the hope of seeing you again and that you have found the love and peace that you were longing for in the arms of your Heavenly Father.

Father’s Day is approaching and I can think of no other father who deserves to be honored more than you. You gave yourself completely to your children, helping and supporting them in every way needed. To Rylan you gave up working to be by his side when he needed guidance, tutoring, and help to achieve his goal of graduating. You would wait each night for Brianna to return home from work, making sure that she was safe in your care. You helped with her homework, taught her to drive and accompanied her as she made home food deliveries to ensure her safety. Christian looked to you as a mentor when selecting his life work. You always had time for him. We miss you, my son, more than you could ever imagine, not only for what you did but for who you were and will always be in our collective memories. May you find rest and peace.

Today, would have been your 53rd birthday and oh how you are missed. I awaken each morning with tears. You were such a dedicated father and husband. You mentored your sons, Christian and Rylan, protected your daughter, Brianna and supported your wife, Dawn, to realize her dream of obtaining her degree and becoming a teacher and you always made us feel welcome. You were the strength of your family and a loving and caring son.  Your sisters, Melinda and Amy, as well as your stepfather, Valdean and I grieve your loss to us. We rely on the hope to see you again. Until then may you Rest In Peace and receive God’s goodness. We are thankful for the 52 years that we had you.
