Ken Steslicki was born in Detroit, Michigan, and passed away peacefully at home in the community of Silver Lakes in Helendale, California, surrounded by his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Linda Kay Steslicki, his four sons, two daughters and their spouses, Louie and Laura, Daryl and Carol, Steve, Greg and Brook, Tracy and Phil, Michele and Rob, his grandchildren and their spouses, Ryan and Carrera, Katie and Erik, Bryce and Bailey, Kyle and Jessi, Maddie, Morgan, Kylie, Monica, and Nicholas, and his great-granddaughter, Kennsington. Ken is also survived by his Sister Virginia Maddek and his brother Robert Steslicki, and numerous other family members in Michigan, and dear friends.
As a young man in Detroit, Michigan, he worked as a framing carpenter and a power tool sales and repairman for the Skill Corporation. Ken was also active in the United States Marine Corps Reserve and received an honorable discharge on September 29, 1962.
In 1961 Ken relocated his family from Detroit, Michigan to Upland, California, where he raised his family and began his career as a police officer with the City of Upland Police Department beginning February 1, 1962 until his retirement as a police lieutenant on August 12, 1989. Ken received an Associate in Arts degree from Mt. San Antonio College.
In retirement Ken and Linda lived in the community of Silver Lakes in Helendale, California, where he and Linda became avid golfers and were active in the Silver Lakes golf community. He loved everything about golf, he loved to play golf, talk about golf, watch golf on TV and drive around the Silver Lakes community in his golf car with his grandchildren. Ken and Linda also traveled the western United States and Baja California with friends playing in golf tournaments. His golf accomplishments include three “holes-in-one.”
A viewing will be held on Sunday, February 25, 2018, from 4:00PM to 8:00PM, at Desert View Funeral Home, 11478 Amargosa Road, Victorville, CA, 92392.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 26, 2018, at 10:00AM at Christ the Good Shepherd Church, 17900 Jonathan Street, Adelanto, CA, 92301, followed by the burial at 2:00PM at Pomona Cemetery and Mausoleum, 502 E. Franklin Ave, Pomona, CA, 91766.
