Leelen Lewis Jordan, Jr., age 83, of Apple Valley, passed away at home on
November 27, 2022. Lee was born on September 16, 1939 in Bell, California to
Lee and Josephine Jordan.
After graduating from Huntington Park High School in 1958, he served 4 years in
the Navy. During his time in the Navy, he served aboard several ships and was
aboard the USS Yorktown as a part of the admiral’s staff during the Operations
Dominic and Swordfish nuclear tests off the coast of San Diego.
After his Navy service, he returned to a job at the post office for a short time
before beginning a 37 year career at Sears, where he started in the service
department and worked his way into management.
In 1956, Lee met his future wife of 62 years, Donna Cryder. Although they both
attended the same high school, they met at a local grocery store where Lee
worked. Lee would deliver groceries to Donna’s house and Donna would wait on
the front porch for him to arrive. On July 4, 1956, they had their first date. They
wed on May 21, 1960, going on to have two children, Laurie and Tim.
After retiring in 1999, Lee and Donna moved to Victorville to be closer to their
children and grandchildren. Lee was active in their lives, attending sporting
events, school activities, and transporting them to and from school. He and
Donna also enjoyed traveling in their RV and spending time in their second home
in Big Bear. He spent many hours building their Big Bear home in the late 1970”s
and early 1980’s and enjoyed spending as much time there as possible
especially in the summer months.
His many hobbies included gold prospecting, building a model train layout,
leather working, stamp collecting, and completing jigsaw puzzles. He was also
active in the local model train club.
