Lillian Hattendorf, a resident of Adelanto for the past 68 years, passed away on Thursday, February 12, 2015, in Victorville, California. She was born on November 9, 1919 to Frederic and Ellen Lyman in Blanding, Utah. Her parents, sister Naomi Wise, brother Stanley, and husband Charles predeceased her. After completing high school in Blanding in 1938, Lillian moved to Logan, Utah where she earned her B.A. in English with a certificate for secondary school teaching. Upon graduating in 1942 she taught one year at Parowan High School in Utah before deciding to enlist in the US Marine Corps. She initially served in San Diego California where she met her husband Charles (also a Marine). They married on July 3, 1947. Lillian then restarted her teaching career at the Victor Valley School District and later taught for the Adelanto School District where she retired in 1985. She thoroughly enjoyed staying in touch with family and friends and rarely missed a loved one’s birthday. She was loved by all who came to know her. Lillian leaves her brother, Clisbee Lyman of Blanding, Utah; three sons, John (Wanida) of Thailand, Jeff (Midge) of Apple Valley, Steve of Newberry Springs; and daughters Kathy Hilderbrand, and Susan Van Winkle (Derral) of San Diego. Lillian also leaves 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Please sign the Guest Book for Lillian online at: DesertViewCares.com
