Marjorie was born September 4, 1929 in the home of her grandmother, in San Bernardino, but for most of her life lived in Victorville. She was a member of the Turner and Bemis family - they were early settlers who helped to found Victorville. She was the great granddaughter of Victorville pioneers Robert and Susan Turner and the granddaughter of postmaster and postmistress, Frank and Nettie Bemis Turner.
Marjorie was the daughter of Frank and Ruby Abbey Turner, and big sister to Frances and Larry. Marjorie would live most of her life on the historic Turner Ranch located on Turner Road. She lived at the ranch as a young child before moving to 5th street in Old Town Victorville. She lived for short time in Colton after her marriage, but returned to the ranch in the late 1950's, and remained there except for a short time in Illinois from 1964 to 1965.
She attended the Victor primary and elementary schools, and graduated from Victor Valley High School in 1947. In school, her classmates called her “Midge”. As a teen, she was very active in the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls and held many titles in that organization, including Worthy Advisor. After graduation, she worked for the next several years for the Victor Valley Unified School District as a secretary for Ray Moore in the district business office. She was also active in the Business and Professional Women’s Club.
Marjorie was a lifelong member of the First Christian Church of Victorville. Her parents, her Grandfather, Cyrus Abbey and uncle and aunt, Clarence and Lena Abbey were charter members, and her participation at FCC was always very important to her. She attended FCC from the time she was born until just over a year ago when her health would no longer permit it. She was baptized into Christ at FCC in 1939. As a young woman, Marjorie served as board secretary, sang in the church choir, and for many years after her children were grown was a dedicated Sunday school teacher. She was very active in the Christian Women’s Fellowship and was always eager to work at any bazaar or rummage sale that the church would hold. As she grew older, she continued to serve on the prayer chain and as a greeter. For many years, she baked cookies for first time visitors and would contribute to linger longer. She was always eager to welcome new church attendees and would always greet them with a smile. Many FCC members would say one of their first memories of FCC was being greeted warmly by Marjorie.
On April 4, 1952, she married Paul Wild, a young airman she had just met that January. They would go on to share over 53 years of marriage before his passing in January of 2006. During her marriage, Marjorie devoted herself to her family and to her church. After Paul’s discharge from the Air Force, Marjorie worked while her husband attended Skadron Business College in San Bernardino. After Paul began his career as an accountant, Marjorie began her most fulfilling career as a mother and housewife. Paul and Marjorie had six children: Paula, Laura, Susanna, John, Anita and Frank. They would in turn bless them with 16 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.
Marjorie was predeceased by her parents Frank and Ruby Turner, her sister Lillian Turner and brother, Larry Turner, special aunt and uncle, Lena and Clarence Abbey, as well as her husband Paul. She was, also, predeceased by her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Bob and Carolyn Wild and brothers-in-law Jim Coillot and Dale McEachron.
