Marlene Eleice East October 10, 1931 – October 22, 2020 Marlene was born October 10, 1931 to Ruby Royce Martin & Kermit Elwood Martin in Kansas City, MO. Kermit (Hap) was a Navy Veteran & professional painter. Ruby was a homemaker. She was their eldest daughter, (nicknamed Skip by her father, as he was a Navy man) followed by Victoria (Gibson), Carol (Grover) & Theresa (Sherratt). Although born in Kansas City, they relocated to Southern California when she was just a child. She was educated in California and graduated from El Monte High School. She married her high school sweetheart Edward Marshall East, August 28, 1949. Together they had 5 children, Eddie, Karen, Carol, George & Danny. They made their home in Baldwin Park, San Dimas, Upland, Fontana, then on to the High Desert cities of Hesperia & Victorville, CA. They remained married until his passing in 2017. Marlene remained in her home until her passing. Marlene had a long history of serving her community. No matter which city she located to, she was an active participant in community service. She loved people of all backgrounds and made everyone feel special in her presence. She was fun loving and it warmed her heart to see others with a smile on their face. (She was usually the reason as she loved being silly). While living in San Dimas she was very involved in all school activities as her children were her #1 priority. That included PTA, San Dimas Little League, Girl Scouts & numerous school activities. She was active in the City of San Dimas as Edward and she owned San Dimas Disposal. Attending council meetings and coordinating functions in the community. At that time, she was employed in the Administrative Medical field. She worked in numerous Doctors office’s Pomona Valley Hospital & St. Bernadines Hospital. After moving to Upland, CA she continued her work in the Medical Field. Moving to the high desert in 1978, Hesperia, Victorville and Baldy Mesa she continued her work in the medical field. She worked for Desert Valley Hospital and many local physicians. She worked Baldy Mesa Water District for 9 years. She served as the director of 5 years. She was very active with the city council and involved with the Baldy Mesa Firefighters Auxiliary. She would serve food to the poor whenever possible and helped anyone that needed help. She also worked for Snowline School District as an aide for the children. She most enjoyed the kids with special needs. It pleased her to help the less fortunate. She loved the children, “precious little angles” as she referred to them. Her greatest accomplishment was in being a mother. She was absolutely the best mother a child could possibly have. What a blessing it is to call her mom. We thank God for her and thank God for allowing us to be her children. WE LOVE YOU & WILL MISS YOU MOMMA EVERY MINUTE OF EVERY DAY YOU WERE OUR FAVORITE “HELLO” & OUR HARDEST “GOODBYE”
