It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Patricia Ellen Hazard, who peacefully passed away on December 26, 2024, at the age of 89. Patricia was born on April 19, 1935, in Wisconsin to Samuel and Mary Ricchio, both of whom have preceded her in death. She was the youngest of four siblings, all of whom have also passed.
Patricia’s life was defined by love, devotion, and a tireless commitment to her family and community. She met the love of her life, Roland Hazard, in high school, and they were married when Patricia was just 19. Together, they built a life filled with joy and love, raising two children in West Covina, California. Their bond remained unbreakable until Roland’s passing in 2014.
For 69 years, Patricia was a devoted homemaker, creating a nurturing and loving environment for her family. She was deeply involved in her children’s lives, balancing the roles of mother, caregiver, and active community member. Patricia completed her nursing education and was known for being a nurse to her own children, offering care with a gentle touch and an endless supply of love.
Her involvement in her community and school was far-reaching. She served as the president of several clubs, was a song leader, and was an active member of the PTA. Patricia was also a proud leader in the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, serving as a Brownie Leader and Cub Scout Leader, always ensuring the children around her felt loved, valued, and supported.
Patricia’s quick wit and sense of humor were legendary. Known for her ability to tell jokes with perfect timing, she could always make those around her laugh, even in the toughest of times. She was also famous for her delicious spaghetti and waffles, dishes that became a staple at family gatherings and were loved by all who had the pleasure of enjoying them.
Patricia’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by one child, four grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren, all of whom will carry on her legacy of love, kindness, and warmth. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roland, in 2014, and her son, who passed in 1998. Though she will be missed beyond words, Patricia's spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
May Patricia rest in peace, reunited with her beloved husband, son, parents, and siblings, and forever cherished by the family and friends who continue to love her.
