

Sardar Ajmer Singh Khera, 85, passed away on September 29, 2026 in California, United States. Born on May 5, 1941, in Lyalpur, Undivided India. He was married to the late Sardarni Jagir Kaur, with whom he shared five beautiful children: Gurjeet Kaur, Sukhdev Singh, Gurmeet Kaur, Rupinder Kaur, and Mahinder Singh. In his early years, he was a wrestler, dedicating himself to the discipline, perseverance, and strength that came with life in the ring. After retiring from wrestling, his adventurous spirit led him to travel throughout India. He was deeply cherished and loved by all who knew him.
In 1999, Sardar Ajmer Singh traveled to the United States to join his sons and celebrate the birth of his grandchild, Harman Singh Khera. From then on, his life became a beautiful journey between India and the United States. During his time in India, he devoted himself to Kaar Seva through building and renovating gurdwaras throughout Haryana and Punjab.
In the United States, Sardar Ajmer Singh cherished his time with his children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Family brought him great happiness, and he treasured the simple moments spent together. He enjoyed watching Animal Planet and old Indian movies, had a particular love for sweets, and was someone who truly enjoyed all kinds of food. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, whether relaxing beneath his favorite nimm tree in India on a manja or soaking in the California sunshine in the mountains. Sardar Ajmer Singh found meaning in being present, being helpful, and sharing his time with others.
Through his travels, his service, his love of family, and the quiet joys he found in everyday life, Sardar Ajmer Singh left a lasting imprint on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. In his final days, his daughters-in-law, Harminder Kaur and Harman Kaur, were by his side, caring for him with immense love, compassion, and devotion. His life was one of perseverance, devotion, generosity, and love—a life remembered not only for what he accomplished, but for the care he showed and the memories he created along the way.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Ishtpreet Kaur, Harman Singh, Japneet Kaur, Vishav Singh, Chirag Singh, Seerat Kaur, and Samrat Singh.
A viewing will be held at Desert View, 11478 Amargosa Rd, Victorville, CA 92392, US, on October 6, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:30 am. A prayer service will follow at Desert View at the same location on October 6, 2026, from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm.
