19,2019 in Victorville, Ca at the age of 29.
Sheenise is survived by son Ethan Medrano, and all six of her older siblings Frank,
Robert, Salena, Sonny, Sabrina, and Serina all of the High Desert. Sheenise is preceded
in death by her parents Frank and Yolanda Velasco of Victorville.
Sheenise was born on March 6, 1990 to Frank and Yolanda Velasco. She was the last of
seven children for the Velasco family. Which meant she was the biggest brat.
Sheenise had many things in her life that she loved. Let’s start off with her most
favorite person in the world. Her world, Ethan. Ethan is Sheenise’s baby boy. There
wasn’t anything Sheenise wouldn't get or give to Ethan. When she found out she was
pregnant with Ethan she was both nervous and excited. Here she was the baby of the
family having a baby. Sheenise did all she could do to keep herself healthy and well for
her baby growing in her belly. She kept up with her doctor visits and stop taking
medication that could harm her baby. When Ethan entered this world, he changed
everything for Sheenise. She now had a new perspective on life. She knew moving
forward everything she would do, it would be for Ethan.
Sheenise absolutely loved sitting down and eating with Ethan. Even though it would be
lunch time our time, it was breakfast their time. He would sit next to her talking and
playing with her while she was making sure he was eating. She would say “Our parents
taught us to eat at the table, so we eat at the table.” Whenever we would make our
weekly trips to Walmart for potluck Tuesdays, Ethan would tell his mommy about a
toy. We used to spell out the word ‘toys’ so the babies had no idea what we were
talking about. It used to be funny, because our budget was like any toy under 15 dollars
and Sheenise would be like oh I have 30 I could spend for him. I’d always tell her man,
you are making us look bad. It wasn’t until her passing that my older sister Salena
brought it up that Sheenise had told her she buys Ethan whatever he wants because
she doesn't know how much time she will have with him. Along with new toys, eating
together, Sheenise always made sure she carried toy cars in her purse for Ethan. In
fact, most of the things in her purse were really Ethans. But she didn’t care. As long as
her little boy was happy she was happy.
The memories. We were all about making new memories for the babies. Since three of
us had little ones, we were always talking about what we could do with them.
Especially during the holidays. We would coordinate our kids and it would be so cute.
We would do arts and crafts with them. One of the last things we did with them is
make Halloween gingerbread houses. The kids had so much fun making them. Ethan
even made a whole village. Sheenise was always saying we need to this with them and
take them here. We used to love taking the kids to the lake or swimming at Salena’s
house. In fact, it was this past summer that Ethan learned how to swim at Salena’s
house. Sheenise was so excited for him. She used to say “Good job papas.”
Aside from being a really great mother to Ethan, Sheenise was amazing at
communicating with everyone. She would keep conversations going in text messages
no matter what. She would send you some really funny things. And literally wait for
you to respond. Sheenise was a night owl. So most of the time her messages would be
sent late. She would text you at all hours of the night. Sometimes I’d wake up and see
like 30 messages from her. She knew I went to sleep late and woke up early. So I
quickly learned to silence those conversations. And in the morning it would be my
turn to return the favor. Whenever Serina and I would be together, Sheenise would
text us and if we didn’t respond, she would say “forget you guys then.” It used to be so
funny at the time, but it will forever be something that we will miss.
Sheenise was also an amazing cook. Just like our mom taught her. She used to kill it
making her mashed potatoes. No one was on her level with those. We would always be
texting Monday about what we are making for potluck Tuesday. Most of the time we
went with her idea. She always had a craving for this or that. Since she usually spent
the night Tuesdays, I would go in Serina’s room to check and see if she was awake. We
used to make breakfast together. It would usually be her cooking, until she started
having a relationship with beef top roman. She used to make two packages of beef top
roman and eat it with a whole lemon. She always said it tasted so bomb. And pickles.
We can’t forget how much she loved pickles. She literally made a designated place in
my fridge for her pickles. She would say “ooohhhh I wanna pickle.”
When Sheenise would spend the night it would be fun. She would be up all hours
watching Friends. I used to come out and still hear the tv on. And when I would go in
the room at 1 in the morning Ethan would be wide awake and Sheenise would be there
on her phone, laying down, with Friends on. And her laugh. My goodness you would
hear her laugh and it was beautiful. When she would laugh so hard she would be
holding her chest, you would start laughing because you knew it was funny whatever
she was laughing at.
I remember one time, for potluck Tuesday we decided we were going to make our
mom's macaroni salad and potato salad. Serina and her had been sharing their “juice.”
So I have this recording of Serina stirring this big pot of macaroni salad and Sheenise
standing next to her. With mom's potato salad you don’t cut the olives, but with her
macaroni salad you do. So here is Serina stirring this pot and Sheenise just throws the
whole can of olives in their. Serina was like why did you throw them in there without
cutting them. And Sheenise was like, you don’t have to cut them. And Serina tells her I
made her cut them, and Sheenise just starts laughing. She realized in that moment she
put the olives in the macaroni instead of potatoes.
Sheenise loved to sing and dance. She used to sing “Sunflower” by Post Malone to
Ethan all the time. And of course, he would say mommy I wanna hear spiderman song.
And Sheenise would play that song as many times as Ethan wanted to hear it. No
matter how crazy it would drive me. Now I want to hear that song every single day.
Sheenise also really enjoyed doing her makeup. She loved to buy Jeffree Star products.
We all used to have monthly subscriptions to Boxycharm. We always used to be excited
about who got what and when they got their box. We would trade or give to each other.
And now that Sheenise passed, we all cancelled them. It just isn’t the same without
her.
These are just memories that we’ve shared with her. She has so many more with her
friends and other family members. We never knew how many people she truly touched
until after her passing. It wasn’t until they reached out to Serina that we got to realize
how much of an impact she has had on other people's lives. We all share one thing in
common, we LOVE Sheenise. Nothing in our lives are going to be the same without
her. We all just want more time with her, more memories with her, and more life with
her. Our hearts are broken for our nephew Ethan who is here without her. He was
always like a son to all of us and now he has a larger group of parents. I know she
wanted to be here for Ethan. She would have NEVER left her little boy. So today, we say
see you later Snooki, Liddooo, player, mommy, sister, and to all others she was simply
Sheenise. We love you forever. We hope to see you sooner rather than later.
