

Reverend Sherman Lee Mitchell, born in Vinton, Louisiana in 1945 to Ernest and Mary Louise Mitchell. He was a product of Louisiana Public School system. Honorary Discharge from Air-Force Military in 1968 and served the National Guards Duty for 20 years then moved to Southern California where he furthered his education in religious studies at Cal-State Dominguez and The International Seminary. He was an employee of the Barstow Marine Base as a Supervisor for 30 years.
Reverend Mitchell was call to ministry at an early age where he served and was licensed under Pastor David Denson in First Missionary Baptist. In 1995 he was ordained Pastor at Mt. Zion Baptist Church and one of his greatest desires was to help pardon prisoners by implementing an outreach program where he designed a twelve step program to prisoners as a Ministry Outreach Program from 1995 to now, 2016, he also founded the SCLC in the High Desert where he helped many deserving people. He was highly respected as a prolific and dynamic teacher, preacher and leader and he was always a diligent and hardworking servant.
He is survived by four children, a son Sherman Lee Mitchell Jr., daughter, Raelisha Shavon, twin girl and boy, Rianne Yvonne and Rhyan Lee Mitchell and four grandchildren, Ashley, Charadi, Cleopatra, and Caleb and one great-grand-daughter, and Host of family and friends.
Services will held Thursday, December 22, 2016 at 1:15 p.m., Staging Area #2 at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd., Riverside, CA
