On February 5,2026, the world lost a wonderful matriarch, but Heaven gained a beautiful soul. Vera Duran was born on August 31,1928, and lived a full, joyful life of 97 years.
Vera was a devoted wife to her husband, Rudy, 70 years before his passing. She was the anchor of her family and loved nothing more than having her loved ones around her. She was preceded in death by her brothers Johnny and Raymond, her sister Sarah and her children Janet, and Rodney. She is survived by her dear sister, Louise; and her five children; Adrian (Vicki), Jeannette (Orville), Calvin, Sharon (Michael), And Rudy (Barbara). Her legacy continues through 16 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Vera was a woman of faith who loved her church where she loved to sing. She was a comedian at heart who loved making her family laugh. Even in her later years, she maintained a strong fitness routine, enjoying her visits to the gym. She was a social butterfly who never met a stranger; she cherished her many friends and loved nothing more than a good conversation.
Vera’s life was guided by her favorite scripture: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life”
(John 3:16)
