Donna Marie Courvelle

She was born in Hopewell, Virginia and was raised in Orange, Texas before moving to Vinton in 1966. Donna was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She enjoyed sewing, reading, playing pokeno, and playing bingo at the senior center.

Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Bobby Courvelle of Vinton; her three children, Brad Courvelle and wife, Lynn of Sugar Land, Texas, Cheryl Courvelle Helderman and husband, Dan of Pearland, Texas, and Leanne Courvelle Schwartzenburg and husband, Philip of Ragley; her half-sister, Catherine Whitlock; and her grandchildren Zane Biggs, Zach Schwartzenburg, Hannah Schwartzenburg, Luke Schwartzenburg, Christina Schwartzenburg, Adam Courvelle, Olivia Courvelle, Blake Helderman, and Tia Helderman. She is preceded in death by a brother, James Whitlock.

A mass of Christian burial will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, January 9, in St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Rev. Carlos Garcia will officiate. Burial will be in Big Woods Cemetery in Edgerly under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home of Vinton. Visitation is from 5-9 p.m. Thursday with a rosary service at 6 p.m. and will resume at 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home.
