Elaine Barrios Chenoweth, 94, died Saturday, January 16, 2021, in a LaPorte, Texas care facility. She was a native of Vinton where she returned to live in 1994 after many years in San Antonio, Texas. She was a member of Welsh Memorial United Methodist Church in Vinton. Survivors include her daughter, Kelly Nelson of LaPorte, Texas; her granddaughter, Sheila Echols-Smesny and husband, Jerome; and two nieces, Ellen Edgar and Susan Walker, both of Vinton. She is preceded in death by her son-in-law, Lester Nelson; and her sister, Olive Chargois. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 20, in Big Woods Cemetery in Edgerly under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home of Vinton. The Rev. Rick Watson will officiate.
