Elma Christine Braneff, 90, died Friday, January 4, 2013, in a local care center.

She was a lifelong resident of Starks and was very active member of First Baptist Church of Starks where she served in several offices. Christine enjoyed crocheting, and traveling, having visited the Holy Land four times as well as several group bus trips.

Survivors include her children, Simon Eugene Braneff of Starks, Larry Ray Braneff and wife, Rebecca of Starks, Albert Lynn Braneff of Orange, Texas, Ronald Lee Braneff of Bryan, Texas, Prentiss Braneff of Starks, and Christina Felice and husband, Bill of Starks; one sister, Lucille Ellis and husband, Jimmy of Dallas, Texas; twenty-one grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Simon Braneff; step-daughter, Margaret Ruth Wales; siblings, Lenora Howard, Maureen Howard, Winfred Howard, Wilfred Howard, Wesley Howard, Herbert Howard, James Willis Howard, Prentice Howard; grandson, Shon Holden Braneff; and great-granddaughter, Christian Leigh Perkins.

Her funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 6, in First Baptist Church of Starks. The Rev. Glenn Wagnon will officiate. Burial will be in Clark Cemetery in Fields under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home of Vinton. Visitation is from 4-9 p.m. Saturday in the church and 1 p.m. until the time of service Sunday in the church.

Tina,
I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. It's never easy to say goodbye to a loved one no matter how old they are. I never got to know her but she must have been a great mom. I hope and pray that God gives you and your family the strength that they need to get through this sad time. God Bless You.
