

Gertrude “Gurdy” Marie Quebodeaux, 91, of Sulphur, Louisiana, passed away on Monday, September 8, 2025. She was born to her late parents, Adam and Bertha Romain on July 19, 1934 in Mowata, Louisiana. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, and loved watching the New Orleans Saints. Gertrude was a seamstress and took great pride in her work. She was proud of the fact she was the past President of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary. She enjoyed French music and dancing and getting together with family and friends.
But most of all, she enjoyed seeing and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, whom she dearly loved.
She is survived by her children, Patrick Quebodeaux (Pam) of Westlake, Louisiana, Wayne Quebodeaux (Reyna) of Carlyss, Louisiana, and Sheila Barbier of Sulphur, Louisiana; siblings, Sally Beymer (Bud) of Tomball, Texas, and Lee Romain (Lori) of New Braunfels, Texas; seven grandchildren, Jeremy, Jessica, Justin, Brandon, Katie, Karissa, and Keenan; along with twenty four great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
Gertrude is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph C. Quebodeaux; her parents; daughter, Phillis Shelton; three brothers, James “Jimmy” Romain, Raymond Romain, and Collins Romain; along with three grandchildren, Kade Barbier, Shanna Shields, and Johnnie Quebodeaux.
A Graveside Celebration of Gertrude’s life will be held at Roselawn Cemetery on Thursday, September 11, 2025 at 11:00 am.
