Gladney worked in the oil field, bringing steady dedication and practical skills to a life shaped by honest work and responsibility. He enjoyed fishing, turning wrenches, or simply peddling with something that needed attention. He was happiest when he was spending time with friends and family, especially his beloved grandson, Brody.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Roxanne Douga; grandson, Brody Douga and fiancé, Emily Savoit; sister, Emma Lee Richard; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Gladney was preceded in death by his loving wife of 48 years, Margaret Ann Istre; parents, Eva and Louis Istre Sr.; and brothers, Louis Istre Jr. and Andrus East.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Hixson Funeral Home of Vinton. Pastor Don Snider will officiate. Burial will follow at Big Woods Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. and will continue until the time of service.
Pallbearers will be Billy Cast (nephew), Corey Istre (nephew), Sebastian Leblanc (nephew), Adam Pitre (nephew), Michael Richard (nephew), Oscar Richard (nephew), Jagger Douga (grandson), Wesley East (godson), and Honorary Pallbearers Brody Douga (grandson) and Xander Richard (nephew).
