On Tuesday, August 30, 2022, Jacqueline (Jackie) Jackson, loving wife and mother of 3 children, passed away at the age of 80. Jackie was born on November 6, 1941 in Vinton, LA. to Julian and Pearl Granger. On August 22, 1958, she married Sam Jackson, Jr. They raised three children, Sammy, Eddy, and Kathy.
Jackie’s favorite pastime was speaking with others. As her late husband stated, “if she couldn’t find anyone to speak with, you would find her talking to a fence post.” She had strong opinions and was not afraid to express/argue them. For Jackie, family was the most important thing. She could have written a How To Book on raising a close-knit, loving family. In the book, she would have made sure to point out that the old-fashioned way is best. Her children will be eternally grateful for being raised by her firm hand and loving heart.
She is survived by her son Eddy; daughter, Kathy; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth; grandson, Eric; granddaughters, Nicole and Baylee; great-granddaughter, Steelie; sister, Earline Guillory; and close friend, Eugene (Catfish) Swire; as well as many other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Jackie was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Sam; her son, Sammy; her father, Julian; and her mother, Pearl.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Vinton, LA. on Friday, September 2, 2022, at 2:00 pm, with Father Carlos Garcia officiating. Visitation will be at Hixson Funeral Home in Vinton on Thursday, September 1, 2022, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm, with a Rosary at 6:00 pm. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Friday from 11:00 am until the procession to the church. Burial will follow at Cormier Cemetery in Toomey, LA.
