Janet Theresa Breaux, 92, of Vinton, Louisiana, peacefully passed away on Friday, July 3, 2026, at her home surrounded by the love of her family. Janet was born on November 20, 1933, in Erath to Dallas and Edna Bruno.
Janet was raised in Ged and Vinton and was a proud graduate of the Vinton High School Class of 1952. Shortly after graduation, she married her high school sweetheart, Henry Roy Breaux, and together they built a life centered on faith, family, and service to others. She was a devoted member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Vinton and deeply cherished her Catholic faith.
While she held many roles throughout her life, her favorite titles were simply Mom and Mawmaw. There weren't many people in Vinton who didn't know and love Mawmaw Breaux. She truly never met a stranger. Alongside Henry Roy, she opened not only her home but also her heart to anyone who walked through the door. Everyone was welcomed like family, and no one ever left her house hungry. Feeding people was her love language, and preparing meals for family, friends, and unexpected guests brought her immense joy.
Mawmaw Breaux was happiest when surrounded by those she loved. She cherished hosting family gatherings, afternoon coffee visits, holidays, and celebrations, creating countless memories around her table. She was funny, quick-witted, and just the right amount of sassy, filling every room with laughter, warmth, and unconditional love.
She had a lifelong love of music and dancing and found joy in every opportunity to enjoy both. In her later years, she especially loved listening to the Gaithers and treasured attending one of their concerts, a memory she talked about often. She also looked forward to watching The Voice, never missing the chance to enjoy great music from the comfort of home.
One of Mawmaw Breaux's greatest joys in her late years was working puzzles. She was famous for finding all the straight-edge pieces and carefully organizing the rest. Countless hours were spent gathered around her table, piecing together puzzles while laughing, sharing stories, and simply enjoying one another's company. Those simple moments became some of her family's most treasured memories and brought her immeasurable joy.
Janet's kindness, generosity, and unwavering love touched generations of family, friends, neighbors, and even strangers. She had a remarkable gift of making everyone feel welcome, valued, and loved. Her legacy will live on in every meal shared around a family table, every act of kindness extended to another, and every life she quietly made better simply by being herself.
If love could be measured by full plates, open doors, and family gathered around a table, Mawmaw Breaux lived a life overflowing with it.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Roy Breaux Sr.; parents, Dallas and Edna Bruno; parents-in-law, Loyd and Inez Breaux; sister-in-law, Opal Moreland (Donald); sisters, Jennie Lee Falgout and Estelle McCarthy; sons-in-law, Bryan Williams and Dudley Lejuhn; and her beloved grandchildren, Kym Nicole Williams and Logan Lejuhn.
Janet is survived by her devoted children, Rhonda Guidry (Bryan), Chako Williams, Gwen Lejuhn, Jane Breaux, and Henry Breaux Jr. (Lana); her sister, Muriel Guidry; her special cousin and dear friend, Mary Tharp; 14 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and countless extended family members and dear friends who were blessed to know and love her.
The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to Father Carlos Garcia, not only for taking care of her spiritual care, but also his love and friendship; the compassionate team at All Saints Hospice, especially Brenda and Callie; as well as the many family members and friends who surrounded Janet with love and reminded her just how deeply she was cherished during her final days.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at Hixson Funeral Home of Vinton beginning at 8:30 a.m., with a Rosary at 9:30 a.m.
