Joanna Buxton, 82, of Starks, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loved ones on Saturday, July 27, 2024. She was born in Purcell, Oklahoma on November, 16, 1941. Joanna loved to travel, especially going on cruises and the beach. She enjoyed going to the casino and playing cards with her grandkids and friends. Most of all she loved her family and enjoyed hosting for the holidays, whether it was a fish fry, a bbq or just some homemade chicken & dumplings and 4 layered delight.
Joanna was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Ira "Slim" Patton; and her sisters, Linda Bonin and Virginia Dell Bussell.
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 64 years, William "Sonny" Buxton; daughter, Tracy Gauthreaux and husband, Derek of Starks; granddaughters, Andrea Nichole Daniels and husband, Dennis Jr. of Starks, Lacey Shafer of Starks, and Kassie Pearson and husband, Dereck of Iowa; great-grandchildren, Peyton Williams, Brooke Daniels, Austin Daniels, Calvyn Sanderson, Liam Pearson and Finn Pearson; and sister, Becky Patton of Starks.
A Memorial Service will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, August 1, 2024 at Hixson Funeral Home of Vinton. Brother Jeremy Shields will officiate.
