John Howard Clark

John Howard Clark of Vinton, LA gained his wings on May 4, 2020. John, also known as Daddy, Grampy or Uncle John, was born on July 31, 1932 in Manchester, NH to Everett and Winnifred Clark. He was the middle child having an older brother Ed and younger sister Doris.
John joined the Air Force and after serving tours in Greenland and Okinawa as a fireman on the flight line, he was stationed at England Air Force Base in Alexandria, LA. It was during this time he met his wife Rhonda. They were married February 14, 1961 and enjoyed 50 years of marriage, ending when Rhonda passed in 2011. Two children were born to them, Kimberly Clark Mitchell and John G. Clark. John spent many years in the produce business. He was well known for his boiled peanuts he sold. John was an avid gardener, reader and storyteller. His family meant the world to him and he enjoyed his grand and great grand children immensely. He was fortunate enough to have a very special lady friend to spend his last years with.
John was preceded in death by his father Everett, his mother Winnifred, his beloved wife Rhonda and his sister Doris.
Those left to remember him are his daughter Kimberly Mitchell and husband Kent and son John G. Clark and wife Roxanne. Grandchildren are Ryan Harris and wife Jodie, Justin Harris and wife Roxie, Mallory Mitchell, Kristin Dyer and husband John, Brandi Clark and Amy Clark. Great grandchildren are Aiden, Chasen, Caroline, Levi and John and his special lady friend Arlene Mathis.
John will be remembered fondly for his sense of humor, his overalls and cap, his love of his cats but most of all his huge heart and affectionate nature. John was one of a kind.
