

He was a native of Opelousas and had been a resident of Vinton for 20 years. Johnell enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a member of St. James Baptist Church in Vinton.
Survivors include his wife, Debbie of Vinton; two children, John Poullard and his companion, Shantera of Grand Coteau, and Brandy Jones and husband, Gerald of Carencro; six siblings, Alex Poullard and wife, Gerry of Houston, Henry Poullard and wife, Kim of Laporte, Texas, Richard Poullard of Opelousas, Esaw Poullard, Mary Oviawe of Ville Platt, and Diane Dejean of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Alex Poullard Sr. and Clara Mae Poullard; and a nephew, Zimbabwe Oviawe.
A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 17, in Big Woods Cemetery in Edgerly under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home of Vinton. The Rev. Willie Tillman officiated.
