Julia “Judy” Kathryn Linscomb, 77, of Vinton, Louisiana, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on October 9, 2026, peacefully at her home, holding hands with her loving husband and surrounded by her daughters. She was born April 12, 1949, in Orange, Texas, to Luther William Hashaw and Gloria Evelyn Julia Morris Hashaw.
Beautiful inside and out, Judy was crowned Mardi Gras Queen at Saint Joseph’s Catholic School. At Vinton High School, she served as Head Majorette, was voted FFA Queen, and was named Best Female Athlete before graduating.
On September 14, 1968, Judy married the love of her life, Timothy Lynn Linscomb. From their first dance to their last, she never passed up a chance to dance with him. Wherever they were, if the right song came on, they were on their feet and in each other’s arms. Together they built a life of faith and a family that would grow to seven children and generations beyond. Their love overflowed into service, and for many years she served alongside her husband as he pastored Calvary’s Purchase Church in Orange, Texas. Judy’s ministry touched every part of the church. She kept the church running, from cleaning and keeping it supplied to teaching children’s church, and she was faithful to share a word from the Lord. She taught the Word of God, led Bible studies, and poured herself into revivals and the life of the church. She also wrote from the heart, putting her faith into songs and writings that pointed others to the Lord.
Judy was the godly matriarch of a large and loving family. Self-less, giving, and forgiving, she loved her husband, her children, and above all her grandchildren, passionately and without reservation. Nothing made her happier than a houseful of family. Beneath the Louisiana oaks, Tim and Judy’s home has long been the gathering place for holidays, receptions, and even weddings. She loved a good celebration and threw herself into decorating for every big event. When the family gathered, she always had games ready, and somehow Jesus found His way into every one of them. She was forever reminding those around her of Scripture, and she lived what she taught.
Her kitchen was legendary. Many will say Judy’s gumbo was the best around, and her pecan pies were second to none. She loved antiques and could never pass up a garage sale, thrift store, or gift shop. She enjoyed working in her yard, going to the beach, and she loved working a puzzle in her sunroom while listening to her birds sing. Her children grew up in a home where gospel music or preaching was always playing in the background, a fitting soundtrack for a life lived for the Lord.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Gloria Hashaw; her brothers, William “Billy” Hashaw and Larry Claude Hashaw; and her sister, Suzanne Marie Hashaw Racca.
She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Timothy Lynn Linscomb; her children, Natalie Ingalls; Jessica Parker and husband, Chris; Timothy Linscomb II and wife, Britni; Marla Tice and husband, Donny; Christina Linscomb; Rebekah Temple and husband, Clinton; and Ramona Walker and husband, Jess. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at Hixson Funeral Home in Vinton, Louisiana, officiated by her grandson, Nathan Ingalls. Burial will follow at Big Woods Cemetery.
