

A native of Welsh, she was born on Sept 8, 1915, to Alcee and Elia (Bouquet) Benoit. She was a 1933 graduate of Vinton High School and received her Practical Nursing degree from Sowela Vocational and Technical School in 1953. Mrs. McCall was a member of the original nursing staff when WCCH first opened in 1953. She continued her nursing career for 34 years with Dr. Raymond A. Carlson, retiring in 1988.
Preceding her in death in addition to her parents was her husband of 40 years, Robert G. "Bob" McCall; her son-in-law, Richard L. Tharp; four brothers, Eraste, Lawrence, Rennie and Bobby Benoit; four sisters, Agnes Johnson, Edna Bruno, Laura Bahnsen, and Ruth Mooney. She is survived by her three children, J. Allen McCall, Sr. and his wife Brenda, Francis A. McCall, and Mary M. Tharp; seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Aline B. Fontenot of Lake Charles and brother, Arsene Benoit of Ellisville, Ms.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, April 19, 2011, at 10 a.m. in St Joseph Catholic Church in Vinton. Father Susil Fernando will officiate. Burial will be in Big Woods Cemetery in Edgerly under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home of Vinton. Visitation will be from 5-0 p.m. Monday with a rosary at 6 p.m. in the funeral home. Visitation will continue at the funeral home Tuesday from 8 a.m. until time of service. Mrs. McCall's grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The family wishes to express appreciation to the staff of Odyssey Hospice and Resthaven, for their exemplary professional care and compassion to Mrs. McCall.
