

Paul Patin, Jr., 86, of Vinton, Louisiana, passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2025. He was born to his late parents, Paul Sr. and Violet Patin on October 22, 1938 in Cecilia, Louisiana. He was a professional boxer and his name was “Champ” in High School which carried with him throughout his boxing career. In High School, he was voted Most Athletic, Most Popular, Most All Around Great Athlete, along with many other Honors. Paul served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, where he was able to box while serving his country. He was owner/operator of Champs Fried Chicken in Vinton. Paul served on the Calcasieu Parish School Board and also was a town city official in Vinton. His reason for moving to Vinton was to start a boxing club, which the city had for many years. Paul loved spending time with his grandchildren, and would follow them to all of their sporting events, no matter where it was at.
He is survived by his children, Pam Mudd (Coy) of Iowa, Louisiana, Guy Patin (Terri) of DeQuincy, Louisiana, and Troy Patin (Shannon) of Lake Charles, Louisiana; eleven grandchildren, Brittany Floyd, Marcus Mudd, Kelsey Boudreaux, Bethanie Carrazco, Abbie Harrison, Brennon Patin, Connor Patin, Laurel Patin, Laken Patin, Caitlen Johnson, and Colben Crotwell; along with fifteen great grandchildren.
Paul is preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette Patin; along with his sister, Judy Roddy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Vinton, Louisiana on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at 10:00 am, with Father Carlos Garcia officiating. Visitation will be at Hixson Funeral Home in Vinton, Louisiana on Monday, September 15, 2025, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm, with a Rosary at 6:00 pm. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 8:30 am until the procession to the church. Burial will be held at a later date at Lacassine Cemetery in Lacassine, Louisiana.
