Roy, affectionately known as "Paw Paw" was a native and lifelong resident of Vinton. He retired after 32 years of service with Marathon Oil and spent most of his retirement years raising cattle. Roy enjoyed bailing hay and spending time with his family, especially his grand and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Annette "Charlie" Arabie of Vinton; two daughters, Kimberly Blanchet and husband, Chris of Ville Platte, and Lanie Quebedeaux and companion, Alvin Brossette of Vinton; one brother, J.C. Arabie of Lake Charles; two sisters, Una Savoie of Carlyss and Audrey Wallace of New Iberia; five grandchildren, Ashely "Pete" Gould and husband, Darrell of Vinton, Josh Quebedeaux and fiance', Chelsea Roll of Sulphur, and Ethan Blanchet and companion, Morgan Soileau, Elliot Blanchet, and Everett Blanchet, all of Ville Platte; five great-grandchildren, Hadley, Wasey, and Copelin Gould of Vinton, and Haven Gould and Kyleigh Quebedeaux, both of Sulphur; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends. He is preceded in death by four siblings, Betty Felder, Geneva Johnson, Gladys McGee, and Arthur Arabie.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 27, in Hixson Funeral Home of Vinton. The Rev. Russell Beard will officiate. Pallbearers will be Josh Quebedeaux, Ethan Blanchet, Elliot Blanchet, Everett Blanchet, Copelin Gould, Darrell Gould, Hadley Gould, Chris Blanchet, and Travis Beard. Honorary pallbearers will be Bud McClelland, Bret Malone, Jason Trahan, David Alexander, Jeff Addison, and Harvey Istre. Visitation is from 3-9 p.m. Friday with a rosary service at 7 p.m. and from 9 a.m. until the time of service Saturday in the funeral home.
