He was a native of Vinton and attended St Joseph Catholic Church. He was a member of the American Legion, Pipefitter's Local 106, and the Knights of Columbus Council 6103. He was a loving father, and a wonderful husband and grandfather. He was a great friend to all. Everyone called him Pop.
Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years Jovita Conway; children, Patricia Ann Mulholland and her husband Bobby, of Bridge City, TX, Roy James Conway, Jr, of Vinton, Kimberly Conway-Pennick and her husband Doyle, of Sulphur, and Scooter Conway and his wife Vanessa, of Sulphur; brother Robert King Conway and his wife Mamie, of Orange, TX; sister-in-law Faye Conway, of Orange, TX, 12 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents Roy and Ethel Conway; and oldest brother John W. Conway.
Pallbearers will be Tadpole McLeod, Paul Adam Johnson, Byron Braquet, Kelly Alford, Bobby Mulholland and Benji Mulholland.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Thomas W. Jackson, Brennum Conway, and Stephen Pennick.
His funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Vinton. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery in Orange, TX under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home of Vinton. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Sunday with a rosary at 7 p.m. and from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. Monday, all at the funeral home.
