Russell Paul Moody Sr., age 56, of Vinton, Louisiana passed away on Tuesday, March 9, 2021. Russell was born on December 6, 1964 in Sulphur, LA.

Russell worked for Turner Industries for many years as a Boilermaker. Russell coached baseball and football for Ward 7 Recreation. He also enjoyed fishing, cheering on the Saints, listening to zydeco music, binge watching western movies, but especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Preston and Furbie Moody, brother, Preston "Pat" Moody, sister, Marie Courville, and nephews, Mark Courville and Clem Doucet.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Debbie Lestage Moody; six children: Lance Tucker and wife, Allie of Lake Charles; Amanda Maddox and husband, Paul of Vinton; Russell Moody, Jr. of Vinton; Tabitha East and husband, Lance of Sulphur; Brandon Moody and Paige Moody both of Vinton; 12 grandchildren, Janson, Ashton, Gavin, Cassidy, Emma, Wyatt, Jazmine, Karmyn, Sophia, Koven, Millie, and Z'nyia; 7 sisters and 3 brothers; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, March 15, 2021 at Hixson Funeral Home in Vinton with a Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Vinton with Father Carlos Garcia officiating. Pallbearers will be Brandon Moody, Janson Tucker, Ashton Tucker, Wyatt East, Gavin Maddox, and Daniel Landry. Honorary pallbearer will be Koven Dwyer. Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Church Cemetery in Orange, Texas, 4320 Meeks Dr. Orange, Texas 77632

Our family times with Russell is him coaching he taught my kids a lot he was a father figure to them we would bring him candy apples that our neighbor Miss Annie William's would make and sell for 25 cent he and my son philip would sell for 50 cent in the ball park it was funny but he made sure he got his 2 first no charge 🤣🤣 gonna miss him prayers to all from Patricia, Paul jr,Patrick, and Philip Simien

I remember when we had A class together we were sitting in the back room you were someone I got in trouble shooting spitballs. I remember so well the day you told me I had to start calling you Uncle and you walked in the classroom and I said hey Uncle Russell next thing you said don’t call me Uncle at school that was at Vinton middle school remember it like it was yesterday you will be truly missed and your truly loved welcome home

When me, you and Roy went fishing at the burnout bridge and Roy had to in a fishing you out maybe you fell into the water and lost new glasses and my other best memory is when you was going to go to midnight mass with me and Roy but we couldn't find a mess to go to so we set up all night playing dominoes I love you bubba and I'm going to miss you so much
