Sonia Marie Borel Morgan, 70, of Vinton, Louisiana, passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2025. She was born to her late parents, Walton Borel and Rose Mary Leach on July 21, 1954 in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Sonia was a person who could take a stone being thrown at her and turn it into a castle. She never met a stranger and loved cooking. She enjoyed her family, friends and two dogs to the fullest.
She is survived by her stepdad, Harrison Leach of Vinton, Louisiana; daughter, Angela Chesson of Vinton, Louisiana; six sons, David Borel (Tammi) and Michael Borel both of Vinton, Louisiana, Wade Morgan (Kristi) of Orange, Texas, Kit Morgan of Westlake, Louisiana, John Britt and Michael Britt both of Sulphur, Louisiana; two brothers, William David Borel (Jennifer) of Many, Louisiana and Michael Leach (Phylis)of Vinton, Louisiana; and one sister, Marsha Trosclair of Vinton, Louisiana. Sonia adored her nineteen grandchildren and twenty-eight great grandchildren.
Sonia is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Thomas Vangossin and Clifford Leach; along with one sister, Marie Leach.
A Celebration of Sonia’s life will be held at Hixson Funeral Home in Vinton, Louisiana on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at 1:00 pm, with Father Carlos Garcia officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 10:00 am until the time of the service.
