Wilfred "Poonie" Roberts Jr.

Poonie was a native of Breaux Bridge and had been a resident of Vinton for 30 years, coming from Houston, Texas. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the American Quarter Horse Association. He had a strong love for horses.

Survivors include his mother, Joyce Sparrow of Vinton; his father, Wilfred Roberts, Sr. of Houston, Texas; his children, Wilfred Roberts, III of Vinton, and Jessica Roberts of Houston, Texas; his siblings, Denise Singleton and husband, Howard of Houston, Texas, Kenneth Roberts of Starks, Roy Roberts and wife, Brenda of Houston, Texas, Stephen Roberts of Houston, Texas, and Keith Roberts and wife, Paula of Mauriceville, Texas; a grandson, Cordell Harris; and a host of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his son, Courtney Harris; a brother, Phillip Gerard Roberts; and his grandparents, Adeo and Wilda Zeno Davis, and Iristille and Adease Roberts.

His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 14, in St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Rev. Susil Fernando will officiate. Burial will be in Niblett's Bluff Cemetery under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home of Vinton.
