She was a longtime resident of Sulphur before moving to Vinton 11 years ago. Winnie was a dedicated nurse for many years having worked at Christus St. Patrick, Lake Charles Memorial, and West Calcasieu Cameron Hospitals as well as the Calcasieu Parish Multihandicap Center in Vinton.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Gene Perkins of Vinton; two daughters, Jeannie Walters of Vinton and Evelyn Decker and husband, Bryant of Edmond, Oklahoma, three grandchildren, Jeff Oberle, Evan Decker, and Alona Stanley; and two great-grandchildren, Frank and Lydia Stanley.
Her funeral will be at 6 p.m. Monday, August 29, in Hixson Funeral Home of Vinton. Visitation is from 4 p.m. until the time of service Monday and then continue until 8 p.m.
