

Alberto “Bert” Robles Rodriguez, 75, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 15, 2013 with his loving family by his side. He was born on November 15, 1937 in Tanauan, Batangas Philippines. Bert proudly served in the United States Navy for 24 years. After retiring, he went on to work as a civil service employee at the Naval Supply Center.
Bert was an active member of the Batangas Association of Hampton Roads where he served as President from 1989-1991. He was also a lifetime member of the VFW as well as a Master Mason with Owens Lodge No. 164. An avid fisherman, Bert most enjoyed his time being around his family and friends.
Bert is survived by his wife of 48 years, Veronica C. Rodriguez; daughter Rosalinda and husband Steve Henderson, and grandchildren Ashley & Justin; daughter Liberty and husband Jimmy Dominisac, and grandchildren Brittany, Nina & Jordan; son Albert Rodriguez and wife Joanne, and grandchildren Malia & Piper; and daughter Jessica C. Rodriguez and fiancé Dale Estey, and two loving dogs Beans & Franklin. Other surviving family members include two brothers, Cosme & Isias, and sister Rosie Perez, and many nieces & nephews in the Philippines. He is predeceased by his brother Tony.
The family will receive friends at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, 4889 Princess Anne Road, Wednesday & Thursday, August 21st and 22nd, from 5-8 p.m. In addition, Masonic rites will be conducted on Thursday followed by a memorial service performed by Father Manalo. A Christian Funeral Servcie will be held Friday, August 23rd, at 11 a.m. at Smith and Williams Funeral Home Kempsville Chapel with Father Griffin. The internment with military honors will follow in Rosewood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Freda H. Gordon Hospice and Palliative Care of Tidewater.
