She was born in Burlington, NC on April 29, 1922 to the late Jesse Hughes and Flora Andrews. She is preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Rev. Thomas Baird; 2 brothers and 2 sisters. After attending Carson-Newman College, Ann attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary where she met and married her husband, Tom Baird. Together, they pastored a few churches in Texas. Then they answered the call to go to the Northwest to start churches in Seattle. Tom and Ann also worked with missionary churches in Oregon and Idaho. In 1969, the family came to Roanoke, VA to run the Baptist Neighborhood House, a community Faith-based outreach center. They retired in Salem, VA in 1980 and in 1992 Ann came to Virginia Beach to help her daughter, Cindy, run a day care for 20 years. She loved children and family.
