My deepest condolences go out to the the Family.   I was honored enough to meet Ms. Betty a few years ago. I will always remember her kind heart and generous personality. Truly a lovely women.

My Aunt Betty was loved by all and she exhibited the epitome of grace in motion.  Aunt Betty charmed everyone with her beauty, wit and welcoming sharing southern ways!  She continued to share her love for (formal;-) tea by gifting a lovely tea set to her great- GREAT NIECE- Bristol❤️I pray B ( my Bristol) inherited some of my precious Aunt Betty’s loving characteristics for people places- and especially sharing her deliciously home grown treats with LOVED ONES!   May your beautiful legacy live on through all the gifts of love you have shared with us Aunt Betty!  I will always LOVE and miss you- Kelly Kathleen Dempsey- Ward

Betty,

Was one of the kindest, most generous, and loving people I have ever known.  She treated everyone with the utmost respect and kindness.  

She would give me the most wonderful hugs when I saw her and always had such uplifting, positive words to say.  

Her canned fruits and vegetables were treats for our family and she was always sure to have canned beets for my husband. 

Betty provided much laughter and fun at Plaza Elementary School.

  Her family was so very important to her and we knew all of her family members by name.  Over the years we could check on family members progress and Betty would let us know how each family member was doing.  

I loved Betty Reil and I will greatly miss her, her smiles, and her way of making people feel special.  

Rest Dear Betty in God’s care.  May the perpetual light shine upon you.

As Director of the Virginia Tea Society I would like to express our sincere condolences to you and your family on the passing of Betty.  As a Founding Member of our Society, she was instrumental in establishing it and keeping it going for many years.  Betty was such a sweet person and a devoted tea lover and many of us enjoyed afternoon tea with her.  We were all so saddened to hear of her passing and know that you, the family and members of VTS will keep her memory alive in our hearts.  She was a blessing for us all!

Our thoughts and prayers are with Betty's family during this sad and difficult time.   I have known Betty for many years while employed with the Virginia Beach City Public Schools (Office of Student Leadership) and when I would call Plaza Elementary,  I would hear that sweet voice.  Betty was a wonderful friend.   We spoke often over the phone these past several years due to Covid.  Betty was always upbeat,  sending me beautiful notes/cards, inspite of enduring many health issues.   Betty was a Lifetime Member of the VBAEOP Retirees/Sisters, Virginia Beach City Public Schools and attended many Luncheons over the years.  When Betty attended the Luncheons,  she was ALWAYS a "ray of sunshine" with plentiful hugs for EVERYONE!  Betty 's delicious Homemade Peach Jam was the BEST PEACH JAM EVER!!!  We ALL loved Betty!  Betty is GONE, but she will be indelible in our minds and hearts forever.  Rest in Peace, our Dear Sister...

Aunt Betty will live on in our memories and our hearts.  She loved family, people, children, places, plants, art, decorating, keeping house, good food, cooking, baking, gardening, canning, traveling, reminiscing, conversations, letter writing and card sending, fine china, silverware, tea parties, table setting, shopping, bargain hunting in thrift stores and antique shops, dressing well, eating well, having a career, Church life, Sorority life, making lifelong friendships, good manners, the outdoors, the indoors, their yard, their garden, all things in nature, birdwatching, the bees and the butterflies, large and small gatherings, entertaining, she loved showing pride in her family, and most of all she loved her home life with Barney,  and raising Becky and Blake, she loved Becky's marriage to Ray, she loved Ray in her kitchen and in her life, and Betty loved God and our Country.  Betty was a beauty, poised, well mannered, well spoken, highly regarded, and a woman of integrity, and she did all things with style and grace.  She was an Angel on earth and now she has golden wings in Heaven.

Mrs. Betty was an amazing person. She was our neighbor for 25 years! She loved my family from the day we moved in  and once I had children of my own, she shared that love with them too! From baking and tea parties, to making sure my kids came to her door first for Halloween...she and Mr. Barney showed us so much love and support! She will be missed!
