Some people only walk this earth for a short time. Their departure reminds us that angels are watching over us. On November 4, 2021, Dorothy Blanche Rose Ludwick (Nanny, Maw or Bee ) joined her heavenly family and gained her wings. Blanche was born on January 26, 1926, on a mountain top in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She will join in heaven her parents, Merrick Freemason Rose and Maude Louise Newcomb Rose, husband, Ned F. Ludwick, Sr., daughter, Susan L. Garrett, (Son in law, John A. Garrett), and Son, Ned F. Ludwick, Jr. Remaining to carry Her torch are her grandchildren, Robin G. Brown, Cindy L. Garrett, Dorothy B. Garrett, Charee L. Riddick, Ned F. Ludwick III, and John A. Ludwick, and many great and great, great grandchildren. Blanche grew up in Norfolk, Virginia and graduated from Maury High School. In 1946, she married the love of her life, Ned (aka Red) and lived happily ever after raising a beautiful loving brood. Blanche was always happy, smiling and kind to everyone. She loved the Lord with all her heart and was a faithful member of Calvary Temple Church in Norfolk, VA. For 30 plus years, she was a dedicated Crossing Guard for the Norfolk Police Department. Nanny loved her grandchildren very much! Just as much, she loved coffee, animals, gardening (especially red roses), cooking, travel, camping, ceramics, and having lots of fun… Her passive demeanor was refreshing!
“Life is short, so don’t forget to enjoy the journey.”
Nanny had impeccable perception of people and intuition beyond her years. She will be missed dearly, and her memories kept dear to the hearts of those that loved her. She is now an angel in Heaven watching over her brood. 😊
"To Those I Love"
When I am gone, release me, let me go.
You musn’t tie yourself to me with tears.
Just be happy that we had so many years.
I gave you my love, you can only guess,
how much you gave to me in happiness.
I thank you for the love you each have shown,
but now it’s time I traveled alone.
So grieve a while for me, if grieve you must,
then let your grief be comforted by trust.
It’s only for a while that we must part,
so bless the memories within your heart.
I won’t be far away, for life goes on,
so if you need me, call, and I will come.
Though you can’t see, or touch, I’ll be near.
And if you listen with your heart, you’ll hear
all of my love around you, soft and clear.
And then, when you must come this way alone,
I’ll greet you with a smile, and say
“Welcome Home”.
