

In loving memory, we announce the peaceful passing of Carlton Lee Buck, who departed this world on February 26, 2026, at the age of 84. Carlton passed away from natural causes in the comfort of his home in Chesapeake, Virginia. Born on September 19, 1941, in the Greenville, North Carolina, Carlton's life was a testament to hard work, unwavering kindness, and a heart full of love for family and friends.
Carlton was the cherished son of the late Dewey Lee Buck and Callie G. Hardee. He leaves behind a legacy enriched by the love and memories of those who were fortunate enough to be touched by his presence. Carlton was predeceased by his beloved wife, Martha E. Buck, with whom he shared 37 years of a joyful and fulfilling marriage. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and resilience, nurturing a blended family with grace and warmth. He was also preceded in death by his stepchildren, Gloria Adams, Michael Reynolds, and Sheryl C. Shank.
Carlton's life was characterized by his dedication and expertise in his craft. Having left formal education in his late teens, he pursued a career as a welder, a vocation that honed his skills and defined his early professional years. After graduating from trade school, Carlton embraced an internship that paved the way for his future endeavors. In 1986, he embarked on a new chapter, joining Raytheon as a machinist and metal fabricator. His dedication and meticulous craftsmanship shone brightly throughout his 20 years of service until his well-deserved retirement.
Outside of his professional life, Carlton was a man of varied interests and simple joys. He was an avid sports enthusiast, reveling in the excitement of Patriots football, wrestling, and NASCAR racing. When not immersed in sports, he found solace in the timeless allure of old western films, with John Wayne being his favorite. Carlton's passion for life was matched only by his genuine kindness and generosity. A friend to all he met, he was always ready with a helping hand and a welcoming smile, qualities that endeared him to his family, friends, and community.
Carlton is survived by his sister, Linda Martin, who shared a lifelong bond of love and companionship with him. His legacy continues through his two nephews, one niece, and their families, including 12 grand nieces and nephews, as well as 12 great-grand nieces and nephews, who all carry forward the values and love he imparted. Additionally, he is remembered fondly by his two surviving stepdaughters, who cherished him as a guiding presence in their lives.
In celebration of Carlton's life, a visitation service will be held on March 5, 2026, from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at the Smith and Williams Funeral Home, located at 4889 Princess Anne Road. Family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing Carlton are invited to gather in honor of his memory, to share stories, and to find comfort in the enduring impact of a life well-lived. The following day a graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM in Forest Lawn Cemetery located at 8100 Granby Street, Norfolk, Virginia, 23505
Though Carlton Lee Buck may no longer walk among us, his spirit, wisdom, and generosity continue to inspire all who knew and loved him. He will be dearly missed but forever remembered with deep affection and respect.
