Carol was born on December 24, 1932, to Lillie Mae Everett and Edward Earl McGowan, who preceded her in death. Carol had three sisters and three brothers, all deceased.
Carol married George W. McCormic on October 8, 1954, in Norfolk, Virginia. Now married to George, she assumed the role of a navy wife. During her life they had four children: Angeleck Nance (David), Norfolk, VA, George William, Jr. (Mary), Virginia Beach, VA, Connie Yelton (Mike), Chesapeake, VA, and Lisa McIntire (Todd), Rudd, Iowa. Carol leaves behind six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Carol accepted our Lord and Savior on the 9th day of June 1946, and through her life she taught Christian values to her husband, children, and all those she came in contact with. Carol loved the Lord and promoted his love in her day to day living. Carol was instrumental in getting George to accept the Lord February 28, 1965. Both Carol and George served the Lord in various capacities. Over these 68 years of married life, Carol and George (Bill) raised their four children to be good citizens, love one another, but most of all love our Lord and Savior. During her many years of illness, Carol spent time in and out of various medical facilities. The last one was a rehabilitation facility. Her strong desire to go home brought her under the care of the hospice program. Once home, Carol concentrated on being with the Lord. She took his hand as stated above.
There will be a celebration of life on July 29, 2023, at 1:00 pm at Kempsville Christian Church.
