One of her most cherished accomplishments was working with other parents to get deaf education in Norfolk Public Schools in the late 1960s. Carolyn's favorite past times were baking, especially for others, entertaining, and playing games with friends and family. She was an avid bowler, enjoyed music, and liked camping. She was a member of New Heights Fellowship Church, the Senior Saints Club, and the Lake Taylor Civic League.
Her greatest pleasure was her four children and family. Left to cherish her memory are Jeff Frizzell, Arlene Sadoff (Robert), Joyce Frizzell, and Jason Frizzell; three grandchildren, Devin Frizzell, Luke Edwards (Jennifer), and Aaron Sadoff; two great-grandchildren, Violet Frizzell and Penelope Frizzell; brother Clyde Lee Hicks
(Judy); sister Libby Brown; sister-in-law Audrey Lassiter; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family wishes to thank Commonwealth Senior Living at Lee Hall and Sentara Hospice Services for her excellent care.
A funeral service will be held at New Heights Fellowship Church 1251 Kempsville Rd., Norfolk, VA. 23502 on Monday September 14, 2026 at 10:00am with a visitation one hour prior to the service.
