In Loving Memory of Danilo Tolentino Arenas
March 23, 1955–November 17, 2023
The world dimmed on November 17, 2023, as we said a tearful goodbye to a remarkable soul, Danilo Tolentino Arenas. Born in Naic, Cavite, Philippines, to the late Emiliano and Estelita Arenas, Danilo's journey touched the lives of many and left an indelible mark on our hearts.
His devotion to family was a guiding light in his life. For 27 years, he shared a profound love with his wife, Roberta, and together they created a haven of warmth and affection. His daughters, Dannisse and Dannelle, were the joy of his existence, and his love for them knew no bounds.
Danilo is survived by his beloved wife, Roberta, and his adoring daughters, Dannisse and Dannelle. He was preceded in death by brother Ricardo Arenas and sister Emelita Arenas. He is survived by brother Rey (Delia) Arenas and Ed (Dorie) Arenas and sisters Eliza (Romeo) Perez, Estela Arenas, Mila (Oscar) Malubay, Anita Arenas, Edwina Arenas, Teresita Arenas, and Emmie (Ferdie) Estacion as well as numerous nephews and nieces.
In the tapestry of his life, Danilo was woven with threads of hard work and dedication. As a skilled sheet metal mechanic, he lent his hands to projects that became more than structures; they were the embodiment of his craftsmanship. The locally-famous “Waterside” sign located in downtown Norfolk, Virginia, stands not only as a testament to his skill, but as a symbol of his commitment to leaving a lasting legacy.
But beyond the accomplishments and professional accolades, Danilo's essence lay in the simple pleasures. His love for crossword puzzles was a reflection of his sharp mind and his ability to find joy in the challenge. His Ray-Bans, perched ever so stylishly, were a constant companion on his journey of life.
Danilo's laughter echoed through the years as he shared playful moments with our younger cousins. His jokes and warm spirit created a tapestry of memories that will forever be cherished. Even in his own moments of pain, he remained a rock for those he loved, offering solace and strength.
His life was a testament to sacrifice, as he selflessly toiled to provide for his family until the very end. The love he poured into every action, every sacrifice, will be the guiding star for those who carry his legacy forward.
As we gather to remember and celebrate Danilo's life on Wednesday, November 22nd, 2023 at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, let us hold onto the love he showered upon us and find solace in the memories we shared.
Danilo Tolentino Arenas may have left this world, but the love and memories he gifted us will endure, eternally resonating in our hearts. May he rest in peace, and may his spirit continue to inspire us to live with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion.
A visitation/reception for Danilo will be held Wednesday, November 22, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Smith & Williams Funeral Home/Kempsville, 4889 Princess Anne Rd, Virginia Beach, Virginia 23462.
