David Harry Ermen

February 12, 1957June 6, 2019

David Ermen, 62 years old, went home to his Lord on June 6, 2019.

David is survived by the loves of his life, his wife Pamela Ermen and his precious “Pookie Girl” Zoe Ermen. He will be sadly missed by his devoted sister and brother-in-law, Pastors Deborah and Bill Smalt and his mother-in-law and best buddy “Bernice” Theresa Hudgins.

He was a “one of a kind” Brother-In-Law to Pam’s brothers Craig, Steven and Matt Hudgins and Uncle to nieces and nephews David, Jonathan and William Smalt, Bryan Hudgins, Michelle and Lindsey Hudgins, Zachary and Alex Hudgins, Christopher Hudgins and the extended families of Kim Mayo, Kasey Lupino and Matthew Hudgins. He was loved by all of them for so many reasons, but mostly for being the man who always showed up when you needed him for anything.

The service to celebrate David’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on June 12th at Rock Church in Kempsville where David was a long standing member. The viewing hour will begin at 10:00 AM. His celebration will be followed by a graveside service at Forest Lawn on Granby Street and a reception at Rock Church immediately after.

David’s joy and life’s purpose was anchored in his devotion to his family, friends and his faith in Jesus Christ. His love for the beach and his heart was rooted in his Ocean View upbringing and by God’s grace he spent his last minute of life with a full view of a beautiful day on the bay. We thank so many of our wonderful family and devoted friends for showing us so much love in the midst of this tremendous loss. We’re find our comfort knowing that David is now with the Lord and his loving parents Joan and Harry Ermen. We will miss him so deeply.

My dearest Pam and Zoe,

My heart holds you both and so very close. Very few things in my life have left me speechless but this is one of them. I am so happy that Ric and I had our time staying with you last year as David worked his magic (once again) on dinner and send off snacks for our drive. Spending time with all of you and your mom has always added treasured memories for both of us. I love you all so much and I am so grateful that you have such a deep faith to keep you strong. Pam & Zoe, you have both prayed for me many times and now may you feel the power, intensity and love in my prayers for strength, courage and faith in this time of sorrow. You are loved. Jackie

I am sure that I am not alone in acknowledging your precious contribution to our collective life. A great cheerful always welcome friend that had a spirited knack of just showing up at the right time. Hard to stay down long remembering you. Oh my Lord, one of the best we have... Oh my heart, be comforted until these eyes will once again see my friend in glory.

If David were here, I would say thank you. “Thank you for making us feel welcome in your home, thanks for making my kids feel cared for while in your presence, thanks for sharing your daughter with our family, thanks for sending photos of Jason’s ship out on the Chesapeake.” May the grace, power, and presence of the Lord be upon Pam, Zoe, and all you knew.

May Holy Spirit undergird you and strengthen you Pam, Zoe and family members. Davis was the persona of what a giver, a servant of God looks like. He was such a blessing and has left so many good memories and a wonderful legacy behind. He will be deeply missed because he made a positive difference in this world. We shall be reunited soon as the family of God takes on immortality. Until that time we lean on the Lord and trust in His perfect plan. I Love you Pam, Zoe and family.

My Thoughts And Prayers To You And Your Family. David was a fun loving person and I remember the fun conversations we had. I still have the glass holder with the marbles on my desk he gave me. ❤️
