Donald James Crago, 76, passed away on December 24, 2016, in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He was born June 24, 1940, in Latrobe, Pennsylvania to the late James A. and Anne L. (Bodner) Crago. Raised in Youngwood, Pennsylvania, he graduated from Hempfield Area Senior High School in 1958. Don was a US Navy veteran who served his country from 1958 to 1968, during the Vietnam War. After his service, he worked as Parts Manager at Honda of Norfolk, and later went on to help design, set up and become Parts Manager at Honda of Virginia Beach where he enjoyed sharing his knowledge of and enthusiasm for motorcycles. In 1993 Don started Hop-N-Go Services, an "in your home" pet sitting service. He was passionate about caring for his clients' animals, and referred to Hop-N-Go as "a lifestyle, not a business". He remained “on call 24/7” for his clients for over 17 years, and maintained his love and dedication for animals until his final days. Don is survived by his loving sisters, Frances Rodgers and Jean Crago; his beloved girlfriend, Nancy Hoppe; nephews, Douglas Rodgers, Vincent Rodgers and Arthur Murphy; nieces, Allison Hirsch, Rachel Hirsch, Veronica Sparks, and Eva Crago, and many cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Charles J. Crago, and a niece, Lucille Otero.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date in the spring. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.smithandwilliamskempsville.com.
