My condolences to Don's family and friends.  I got to know Don when I was stationed in Norfolk and vicinity and racing motocross between 1969 and 1973, specifically Hondas, while Don was working as the parts manager at Honda of Norfolk.  No matter how oddball the request I had for parts, he found a way to get them for me.  I had been in Norfolk, and tried on several occasions to find him during the 45 years since then, but that was before the google search was available.  Don was a nice fellow, had a great sense of humor, and treated everyone the way he liked to be treated.  We're all diminished by his passing, and enriched by having known him.

So sorry to hear of Don's passing. We joined the navy together on the buddy system that did not work out. I cant believe we did not see the listing in the Greensburg paper.

So sorry that this good decent friend has passed away. When he would come by the shop it was always an "up" moment that we looked forward too, although he would get frustrated with some of the dumb things that city council would try to push down your throat! A true mechanic that would actually repair something instead of replacing. He didn't ride a Harley but only narrow minded people think you have to ride a Harley to be a biker. He was a biker in all sense of the word: honest,loyal and,trustworthy. Don, all the folks at Oceana Cycles will miss you very much. With much love,

We got to know Don in the early 2000's when he took care of our dogs and cats - I was deploying a lot post 9/11 and it was a great relief to know that my wife had Don to be available when she needed him - he was a great human being and a bright light, and I'm so happy we knew him. If a life is judged by how much warmth and happiness one brings to others, then Don'a was indeed very rich. Rest In Peace and all the best to his family -

So Sorry to hear of Don's passing. Working for Don @ Honda of Virginia Beach in the late 70's was a truly rewarding experience and he taught me things then that have helped shape me into the person I am today. God Speed Don.

Nancy, Steve and I were Shocked and so sad to hear of Don passing.  He was a great friend and caring person.  He shared with us his love and knowledge of all animals as well as his love of motorcycle riding. We will miss him very much and also his sense of humor and jokes.

      I was sadly surprised to learn of Don's death.   I was pleased and lucky to work with him.  As my boss his knowledge and patience seemed endless,  but it was his sense of humor that made our workdays easier, and over the years he has continued to impress me because he was always finding new interests and projects.  I never observed Don to do or say anything unfair or untrue; and he did many of his good acts without fanfare.   Some I didn't know about until years after.   
     In the late70s, I had embarked on the long journey to rebuild my motorcycle.  The smartest move I made was the moment I decided to enter the Honda dealership.   As Fate would have it, I found parts, advice, encouragement, and a forty year friendship in the person of Don Crago.
     With an encyclopedic knowledge of all things motorcycle, and experience in racing competition, he was an invaluable fountain of information.  Don was a great conversationalist and raconteur.   More importantly, Don was a teacher at heart,  thus he enjoyed sharing his knowledge and enthusiasm.       
     Quick to laugh, and with a quick mind, his interests were widely diverse; a conversation with Don could range from conservation and solar energy, through mechanical systems and history, to philosophy and tools.  He read newspapers, scientific journals, listened to the police radio bands, and he was the only person I've known who regularly listened to the live City Council webcasts.  His loves were intense; tools, old motorcycle magazines, old movies and the Warner Bros. cartoons.  His garage was occupied by a treasured mid-fifties, blue, Cadillac convertible, an indian red chevy van, and several old motorcycles.   He was angered by injustice; and quick to help a needy, an elderly shut-in, or to provide a home for rescue animals and birds. 
      The world desperately needs more people with his ethics and sense of justice.   I will miss him.

Rest in Paradise our dear friend. Don was the best neighbor anyone could ever wish for, and a true friend. A true lover of all animals and nature. We will never forget how you taught Jacob how to pick up an alligator snapping turtle, Or the day you held the garter snake, and let it bite you over and over; with a big grin on your face. Always shared your wisdom, taught us how to love and embrace animals and nature, in a way no one could have ever shared with us. Goyagofi, and suffer or solve it kiddo were words you shared we will take thru life. Fly high, Freebird, with the crows, my friend, you're free at last.~~

We are so saddened to learn of Don's passing.
Although our hearts are heavy, we imagine when Don arrived on the other side  he was most surely greeted happily and enthusiastically by many cats purring and rubbing against his legs amid a sea of wildly wagging tails and happy doggie grins, a joyful reunion with the many companions he cared for with such love and dedication.  
Know that we are thinking of you with heartfelt sympathy and love.

Nancy, We were so saddened to learn of Don's passing. He took such wonderful care of our Duke and cats: Scooter, Madison, and Tyrone. We could always count on his special attention throughout the years. He laughed at their antics and shed tears with us when we lost Duke to cancer.
