He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Deborah; his beloved daughters and their spouses Jennifer (Todd), Katie (Eric), Elizabeth (John), and Becky (Elliot); and nine exceptional grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Nancy, of Geneva, Switzerland.
He was the most loving, kind, and devoted husband, Dad, and Grandpa a family could EVER hope for. He was an exceptional friend and colleague who always made time to talk, listen, and engage with those around him. He had a generous and inclusive soul. He was the kind of person who would stop and help a stranger change a tire along the side of the road, and then give him the last twenty dollars in his wallet. He was passionate about his family, the US Navy, music, old cars, history, politics, and sharing opinions.
He graduated from Mt. Lebanon High School (Pennsylvania), attended Duquesne University, University of Pittsburgh, and graduated from Old Dominion University. He was a lifelong learner of many subjects.
He served in the US Navy from May 8, 1974 retiring as a Chief Yeoman December 31, 2001. He then continued to serve the Navy as a civil servant until his passing.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at 2 pm at Kings Grant Presbyterian Church. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall. A livestream of the service will be available on the YouTube channel for Kings Grant Presbyterian Church.
