Dorothy L Hughes

Mrs. Hughes served as a Wave during World War II in the U.S. Navy. She retired from the Virginia Beach Public School System.

Survivors include her loving husband of sixty-six years, Clifton E. Hughes, a daughter, Tracy Owens and husband, Eddie of Raleigh, NC; a son, Gregory A. Hughes and wife, Pasha of Park City, UT; nine grandchildren, Bryan, Jeff, Karri and Amy Owens, Greer and Casey Hughes; Izzy, Luke and Keaton Perkins; four sisters, Evelyn Johnson of Bloomfield, IA; Clarice Palmer of Clayton, CA; Alice Spencer, Judith Wilson and a brother, Larry Lieber of Galesburg, IL; and brother, Jerry Lieber of Macomb, IL.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 29, 2011 from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel.

A celebration of Mrs. Hughes life will be held on Tuesday, May 31, 2011, 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home by The Rev. John Cole. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
