Dorothy Jean James

Dorothy Jean James, 82, passed away on November 27, 2020. She was born on August 10, 1938 to the late Nanola and Sydney McDarmont in Amonate, Virginia. Along with her oldest son, Glen James Jr., who passed away in January, she is predeceased by an infant son, Joseph and two brothers, Arthur and James Darrell.

She grew up & graduated high school in War, West Virginia. She took a shine to her neighbor, Glen James & they married on December 22, 1956. They moved around the east coast during Glen's time in the Navy, ending up in Norfolk, VA, where they raised 3 sons. Along with raising her sons, she was periodically employed which included managing the Fanny Farmer candy store at Military Circle Mall.

Dorothy is survived by her loving husband Glen A. James, Sr.; her sons, Sidney James and William James; her brothers, William and Allen McDarmont; and sister Lily Turner along with an extended family.
