Dorthey McIntyre Norquist passed into the arms of her Savior on April 22, 2025, surrounded by the family she so deeply cherished. She was born to the late Oliver Heaman McIntyre and Wilda Marie (Mott) McIntyre in Montgomery, Alabama. She is preceded in death by her beloved sister, Rhonda Hall.
Dottie lived her life as a shining example of God’s love—offering kindness, comfort, and joy to anyone who crossed her path. Whether through a warm hug, a shared prayer, or a plate of her famous chocolate chip cookies, she made others feel seen, cared for, and deeply loved.
A lifelong lover of gardening and nature, Dottie found beauty in every flower and every creature, great or small. Her home bloomed with life—not just from the vibrant plants she nurtured, but from the people and animals she welcomed with open arms. Her hospitality was limitless. Neighbors became friends, strangers became family, and no child left her home without a smile and a cookie in hand.
She adored reading, cooking, and cheering on Alabama college football with her family. Yet her greatest joy came from caring for children—her own, her grandchildren, her students, and any child in need of love. In her twenties and thirties, she poured her heart into teaching, homeschooling, babysitting, leading Sunday school, and offering guidance and grace to all.
Dottie gave selflessly, always putting her family first. She enabled both of her sons and their wives to pursue their careers by lovingly caring for their children, never asking for anything in return. Her arms and heart were always open, and her home was always a refuge.
Above all, Dottie loved the Lord with all her heart, soul, and strength. She read her Bible daily, prayed faithfully for others, and lived a life of deep, abiding faith. Her gentle spirit, generous heart, and unwavering trust in God left an imprint on all who knew her.
She will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love and faith will live on through her family, her friends, and all the lives she touched.
She is survived by her sons, Gregg Norquist and Blake Norquist, their wives Sherry and Carla, and her grandchildren Megan, Lauren, and Gabriel.
