“Eddie” as he was known to most, was born in Bristol, Tennessee on March 26, 1949. His family migrated to Norfolk Va. when he was a child. Eddie served proudly in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He retired from the Army with an honorable medical discharge and was the recipient of the Purple Heart for his bravery and sacrifice. Eddie spent his early adult life dedicating his time to his family and the community. Eddie was very active in his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting careers which led to his overwhelming involvement in local and school sports teams, where he was known as Coach Quales. As a coach Eddie was able to influence not only his own children, but a multitude of teens and adolescents along the way.
“Coach Quales’s” competitive spirit and love for the game, was undoubtedly one of the many great lessons and traits he was able to pass on to those who played for him. In more recent years as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Eddie could be found entertaining his family and friends with his spontaneous stories and his perfectly timed and witty responses. He always treasured the time he spent at his home socializing and talking with his family. As a very caring and loveable soul, Eddie will forever be remembered for his ability to touch the lives of anyone who had the privilege of meeting him.
