He is survived by his wife, Taffy Yoder Young; step-son, John Pebworth; sisters, Melissa Y. Atkins, and Carolyn Y. Bailey and preceded in death by his parents, William Jerome Young and Lillian Butler Young.
He served in the U.S. Navy as an ordnanceman, attended Old Dominion University with the majority of his career involved overseeing commercial building, development and management. He was a member of the Oddfellows, Washington Lodge No. 2 and had many golf and dart playing friends. He regretted not having children but recognized that he was probably too hot headed to do it right. He loved a challenge, was practically OCD - wanting everything "just right" and loved all animals.
